Wordy Wednesday: Yonderly

Today’s interesting word comes from The Project Twins and represents a feeling that we’ve all experienced at one time or another.

The word is:

Yonderly

The Project Twins define Yonderly as “Mentally or emotionally distant; absent-minded.” Yonderly_905

Collins Dictionary defines it as being aloof, reserved, morose or gloomy.

And if you want to take a more satirical route, Urban Dictionary defines it as “Something that is located in the distance.”

Using Yonderly in a sentence is fairly simple since it’s an adjective. Just use it normally.

“The art collection was inspiring. The artists used muted colors, which gave the exhibit a yonderly feeling.”

“George cracked open Mary’s file and read the therapists’ notes. “Patient is described as yonderly with no regard for reality.”

“Georgia is such a fanciful child. Her father called her yonderly when he was alive, andI believe that girl creates worlds of her own.”

These are just a few examples of how you can use Yonderly in a sentence. Do you have any other suggestions? Leave them in the comments below!
