Tea Tuesday: Orange Peel Tea

Flu season is upon us, and it’s time to kick our immune systems into high gear! One of the ways we can do that is by 473616570_XS
indulging ourselves with some natural Orange Peel Tea!

Orange peels normally get thrown in the trash, which is a shame because they have so many uses! Orange peel tea can soothe indigestion and heartburn, helps you fight against viruses and bacteria, can be useful in expelling phlegm from the lungs, and has even been used as a laxative.

Orange peels contain a high amount of Vitamin C, as well as protein, potassium, riboflavin, calcium, folic acid, antioxidant flavonoids, and Vitamins A and B1. These components all band together to give your immune system, and your body as a whole, a much-needed boost! Just the thing to get you through the cold, winter season. Unfortunately, though, Orange Peel tea does come with  few risks. It’s not recommended to drink this tea while pregnant, and it may cause restlessness if you’re sensitive to stimulants. If you’re not sure how you’ll react, consult a doctor before trying.

Add some honey or sweetener and enjoy! You can also dry the peel and store it in a cool, dry place for use whenever you need it. I recommend getting organic oranges, if you can, and always wash the skin thoroughly before use.

The next time you go grocery shopping, why not pick up a few oranges and give this delicious drink a try? Your body will appreciate it!
